This blog started as my attempt to look at the publicly available data on UK football in a more sideways manner than I’m used to seeing in the media. However, in recent times it has been taken over by my obsession with playing Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and trying to gain an advantage using analysis.

I am interested in patterns that can be found in data and understanding how they reflect the experience of life as we know it. I am also interested in football, so attempting to portray the game from another angle to experience a different perspective is something that I enjoy doing.

In the interests of full disclosure, I am a fan of Northampton Town. I will aim to ensure that this does not prejudice my commentary in any way, although don’t be surprised if the occasional piece has references to the club crow-barred in for seemingly no reason.

The name of this blog is the title of the Half Man Half Biscuit song from the album ‘Trouble Over Bridgewater’, because if you can’t find a HMHB song or lyric to narrate whatever you are doing you’re just not trying hard enough.
